Best RTS game for a RTS noob?

I remember being lost the first time I tried to play a rpg or an mmorpg, but I knew if I stuck with it I would love it and i do. RTS games are another issues I just feel lost when trying to play one. So what is a good rts for a rts noob? I have tried most of the civ games although not the new one.
